Coming from Australia, a love of beaches is built into my very nature. And I thought I knew the best of them. But Sarandë in Albania kept adding more and more beautiful beaches to my list over the time I spent in the area. From the beaches in Sarandë itself, to those south in Ksamil, and north in Porto Palermo, Borsch and Lukove, I was consistently surprised at how beautiful this little travelled area is. But, word is getting out and tourists are starting to turn up, with lots of development happening across the region. Along with the beaches, and all the great restaurants catering to the sun-lovers swimming in the sea, are some amazing natural sights. Surrounded by mountains, the area offers inland beauty, too, including the famed Blue Eye spring. This is one place I know I’ll be back.
