Patras, Greece

Patras is a city that not many tourists take the time to stop and explore. Located at the northern edge of Kalamata in Greece and on the sea, it is the departure or arrival point for many ferry trips. As such, the port is often treated more as a stopover than as a tourist destination in its own right. Maybe it is because of this that the city holds such charm. Utterly unpretentious, the city is a small but delightful place to spend a few days. With may universities located nearby, it is also a vibrant city with cool bars and cafes catering to the student crowds. It’s also a good stopping over point before heading further north in Greece, or into Albania.
